Something Festive For Friday

Good Friday Morning Ladies,

To think that this time last week we were up having breakfast and getting ready to go to Beach/Pool, by stark contrast I had a hot water bottle last night!
I just couldn't get warm and without the luxury of the heating to take the chill off the house we were all wrapped in fleece throws with hot water bottles!
Having said that there are a lot of people an awful worse off than me!
It's just horrifying watching the devastation that 'Irma' is causing, so terrifying, every time you watch the news it seems that there is another natural disaster, Fire,Floods and now Hurricanes, to see last night that behind 'Irma' there is another Hurricane, following in her path!
Residents and tourists alike must be absolutely terrified, holiday makers were being evacuated from their hotels in Florida and on arriving at the Airport they are advised that there are no seats available on flights until after the hurricane, I can't imagine the fear and frustration of not being able to get your family to safety.
I hope and pray that everyone is able to get to a place of safety.

Today's card is an 'oldie', made last December, I thought that some of you might have these dies, so it might just give you a little inspiration, here is the original description....

Now onto today's card, it is another take on this weeks Challenge card, I used Creative Expressions Poinsettia Border, from Border, Corner, Tag set, cut the base part in red and then used the base and decorative insert for the white top piece, I added some foam tape and placed on a 61/4 squared piece of Linen card that I had embossed with 'That Special Touch Holly Border Mask' , yes I used a mask instead of an embossing folder, as I wanted a frame but didn't have one the same size.  I then used the Poppystamps Stitched Poinsettia die cuts that I did while at Pats on Tuesday, the little ones aren't Poppystamps but Pat didn't have packet to know what Brand they were, they are a sweet size though.
I used Creative Expressions Holly Sprig die for the Foliage and added some red gems for the berries.
I decided to go for a pale gold colour gems for the centres of the poinsettias and the border,
I hope you like the card.

We are popping into town to do some shopping today, so I am hoping to pop and see Pat and Pete, it seems like forever since I had a 'Pat Hug' !!

Lilian it was so lovely to see you pop in yesterday, I do hope this Dr gives you answers my lovely, I have everything crossed for you, sending love and hugs.

It was so lovely reading all of your ' Bathroom Stories' yesterday, what a perfect way to get something good from a frustrating situation.

Have a lovely Friday ladies,

Love and Hugs

Sandra

  1. Good morning everyone,

Pretty card Sandra, there is something about a red/white card that heralds in the Christmas Season.

Took Tiegan to the first of her swimming lessons since she won her silver medal a couple of years ago now. She had previously started Stage 6 so that is the class I booked for her and my goodness, she hadn't forgotten anything she had been taught. She streaked ahead of the other class members and impressed the swim teacher so much, she called in one of the advanced teachers to assess her swimming. They both decided she could skip Stage 6 and advised us Tiegan needed to be in Stage 7 but they would put her in Stage 8 to see if she could keep up with the others. So next week we will find out. She is super excited as swim club was also mentioned by the receptionist but that is a commitment of 3 days per week. She knows she needs to buckle down now she has started her options and she will be getting more homework than before so we will see how she gets on with that first as she can always join the swim club at a later date.

Rain has set in for today and although we British always complain about the rain, I am certainly glad we do not experience the extreme weather that is buffeting our neighbours across the pond. They have lost so much, not just their homes but prized possessions and family heirlooms. We are so lucky.

    Love 7 hugs

  2. Morning Ladies

Lovely card today Sandra. I must start thinking about making some Christmas cards soon.

My family in Florida are hoping the Hurricane misses them (they're near Sarasota ) but they have friends on the other coast (Fort Lauderdale) who will probably have to evacuate.

We have very heavy rain here right now-hope it stops as we're off out for a meal tonight and we we're hoping to get the train then walk to the restaurant. Fingers crossed it stops raining, I really shouldn't be moaning when you think what a dreadful situation the Hurricane has left so many people in.

I'm glad your relatives are going to be ok and the hurricane shouldn't do to much damage where they are.
I hope it stops raining for you this evening. It's also raining here at the moment. Not to sure why Oete put a load of washing on as it's not going to be able to go out.

Well it's absolutely pouring down and quite windy hear but at least we're in our home snug and dry.

My thoughts and prayers go out to all suffering extreme weather conditions at the moment.

What a lovely card, Red Poinsettias and Holly definitely say it's Christmas, they look so beautiful together.
Hope your shopping trip goes well and you get to pop in and say hello to Pat and Pete. There are much needed hugs all round!!! (Plus one or two from me Pat ((((hugs)))) xx)

Michele so pleased it looks as though you relatives will be safe. My heart goes out to all those people who have lost everything, it's going to be so difficult to rebuild their lives - if they ever can.

Lillian good luck hope the doctor can give you some answers. xx

Hope you're all having a good day. Here 0H made the suggestion of moving out of the large sitting room, and relocating the sitting room into the dining room and vice versa so we are in the process of moving furniture around it's just across the hall but still a major task, the only thing - what is now the dining room now doesn't look out onto the garden, but it is cosy for the cooler evenings. Watch this space!

Have a good day everyone, love and hugs Brenda XXX

No matter I'm just glad not to be working. Not getting much crafting done as I'm staying at mothers doggy sitting. Trying to get a few hrs st home to cut bits out ready for assembly which is half the battle I guess.

My backs still hiring with this infection but no where as bad as last week phew!! Don't want it again that's for sure lol.

    Love to all xx

  10. Hi everyone who coming to visit the cafe' today. I hope Janet remembered to put the umbrella stand out because it seem to be the same weather over most of UK. Feel for all the people who have been hit by Irma. Apparently the Island that Virgin owner own has been completely flatten down but thankfully all the staff had gone down to the bunker before they were hit. Glad if you family Michele are safe, hope their friends be alright.
Love the card Sandra, the red ,white and green leaves says Christmas for me. Got a bit confuse first and thought we were doing red and white cc but know it is black and white now. Just got soooo many ideas, in my head yes but have problems to get them into cards.
Awful weather but popped over to Ikea this morning for a walk around inside and coffee' and cinnamon bun as a treat. Going to change and get the fleece jumper on and go into the kitchen for some tidying up so I can see the cutting mat and hope to make the CC so I might see you later to see how have been in. Would be great if you are looking in came in for a cuppa and told us what crafting you like to do, I;m the nosy one you see so anyone welcome. 1. Hi Maria
I don't blame you getting a fleece out today. It's rained here so hard over lunchtime it's flooded the road. Pete called it thunder rain, whatever that is. Our nearest Ikea is in London, so no walking around it for us.

    2. That's why you should come over to the one in Mk, it didn't take Paul and Sandra so long to drive over I believe. xx

  11. Well it turned out to be thunder as we had guess what thunder. Had to sit in our car after coming back from Doreen's as it was raining so hard.
I took Doreen into HSBC on Wed as the company dealing with Ellis's will wanted them to transfer the deeds as they needed to see them. They've asked 4 times. The last being on 4/8/17. So I explained that Corhus Law wanted them transferred to HSBC in Stafford so they could pick them up. Now to me that's simple but not to the staff at HSBC. Doreen had a letter from them stating that they no longer held to Will as thus was now held at Chorhus Law. You couldn't make it up.

  12. Predictive text strikes again. Should have read they no longer held the Will and it was now held at Chorhus Law.
