Playing with Distress Oxides....

Good Morning Ladies,

I was sad to not have Sue to craft with yesterday but totally understand what it's like to just not be up to getting out of bed let alone being sociable, particularly with painful joints as it usually means you have had a night with hardly any sleep on top of being in agony.  I do hope you are in less pain today my lovely.

So I had time to sit and play with different ways of using my Distress Oxide inks, oh my goodness they are amazing to blend with, if you are someone that has struggled with blending before just give these a try.  Tim Holtz is a bloody Genius, he puts so much thought into his products, you can see that they are made 'by Crafters', ' for crafters'.
Todays cards were made by stamping onto white card with Versamark ink (I used Stampin Up! 'Falling Flowers' for the first card) it has a beautiful flourish that I used to stamp around the edges of my car, I added fine white embossing powder and heat set. I then used 'Wilted Violet', 'Picked Raspberry' and 'Spiced Marmalade' for this card and blended them together with 'Inkyliscious Brushes'.  I the took the dies from the 'Amazing You' Die set which was a FREE Sale-A-Bration gift and die cut You and Amazing twice, I added glue to the back then stuck them together and placed on my card, I added the "are simply" from the Amazing You stamp set. I then added a few sparkles.

The second card was made with exactly the same method only this time I used Stampin'Up! Remarkable You' Stamp set and using the leaf branch, the Distress Oxides I used were 'Peacock Feathers', Cracked Pistachio' and Salty Ocean', adding a little at a time and blending together.

I am thinking about doing a Tutorial on this technique, so please let me know if you'd like to see one.

Pat is coming over for some crafty fun today, not sure what we'll do, I might make her get her fingers inky!!

Have a lovely day, however you are spending it.

Maria sending hugs and wishing your Dad a speedy recovery XXX

Michele, I will be thinking of you both today, I hope the Doctor can get Phil's pain sorted quickly, sending hugs XXX

Love and hugs to all,

Sandra

  1. Morning Ladies

Sandra-I love both of your cards, the backgrounds are stunning. I’d be very interested in a tutorial.

We made it into Southport yesterday and the sun came out so it was lovely walking round. Phil bought clothes in the M&S sale, we got 6 Cadbury’s Easter eggs (for our American relatives) and I bought some ribbon in the £shop!! I meant to look for coloured gemstones but forgot so I’ll go online today.
We did some gardening after lunch -we needed to move 2 shrubs from the front garden into the back. It was warm work doing that but felt good to outside.
After that I got to spend some time in my craft room as Sandra knows-I kept sending her photos!!

I’ll let you know how we get on at the Hospital.

  5. Hi Sandra and ladies
Two great cards today Sandra. It’s looks like I’d better bring some card and a few of my Oxides over. I bought some last year ( April I think ) and haven’t used them yet. Better bring my Happy Birthday stamp over as well.
Better get sorting me thinks as I was going to take some Groovi over to do. Will probably take that as well.

  7. Hi Sandra and all in the Café today.
I love these cards. Having played with the Oxides inks I know just how easy they are to blend together and they are so much fun as adding water to them gives you some brilliant effects. I completely agree with you about Tim Holtz, you know it is going to be good if it had his name on it and these oxides are another fantastic product from him. I hope we get to play with them tomorrow.
Thank you for all of your kind words. I am feeling better than I was yesterday, but that's not hard though!
Maria, I hope your Dad's op went well. Sending you hugs X

  10. Hi Ladies.
Gorgeous cards Sandra, love the colours you have used to blend together.
Michele- hope Phil is ok and get some help today.
Sue- glad to see you some better, just take care
    Val- thinking of you, hugs
Lilian- hope you starting to feel better
Lynda- hope you got a walk in today. Very cold winds here but managed a little one.
Karen- did you win the dinos ? Congrats, have fun playing with them.
Dad's surgery went well and they got him to wake up alright afterwards. It was one of the worries, nothing new. It will now take 3-4 weeks for the result, they must be very busy so everything crossed for the foreseen time.
Not doing too much today so hope to make a cc tomorrow. Also having a French Polisher in for a quote for our rather large coffee table which have some stories to tell with all the marks on it Lol Not sure if keeping it when doing the lounge up but it is very useful piece so will have to see.
Wish you all a nice day and many hugs, Maria xxx

I’m glad to hear your Dads op went ok. Hope the results don’t take to long to come through and the results are positive.
Glad you enjoyed your walk. It’s been sunny here but quite windy. Seems that storm Emma is on her way back. Fingers crossed she changes her mind.

  12. Hi Ladies
Well Sandra and I played with the Oxyide inks Sandra and I had. I was quite pleased with the results I must say. However, I somehow did not get any inky fingers at all. Sandra on the other hand did. She also had it on her face. In fact she looked like someone had punched her on the right side of her face. You know what it’s lije. You have the black bit and then in turns yellow. Well her face was yellow.
Had bags of fun though. All I need to do now is attach a sentiment. Plus I did some Groovi work while Sandra was playing with inks and stamps.
